2022年1月27日(木) – 2月13日(日)の期間、マルチ・アーティストEdo Oliver（エド・オリバー）による個展 「Dys・Morphia」を開催いたします。

 

Edo Oliverは写真、テキスタイル、パフォーマンス・アートを中心に、ジャンルを越え国内外で活動を行っているマルチ・アーティストです。

 

メキシコ出身でカナダで育ったEdo Oliver。幼少期に過ごしたメキシコでは、世界中の映画からメイクアップやファッションを吸収する日々を過ごし、その他にもカルチャー、セクシュアリティの在り方など、繊細で詩的な感受性から様々なことに関心を持ちます。

 

2010年代中頃からは日本に滞在し、ファッションや広告のクリエイティブディレクターの仕事を行う一方で、パーソナルな活動としてフォトグラファーやドラァグクイーン「Andromeda」のパフォーマンス・アートを始動させました。

 

本展「Dys・Morphia」では新作の写真作品を発表いたします。
洞窟の中のような暗闇から覗く美しさと、それと同居する不完全な輪郭の危うさはEdo Oliverの表現活動においての原点回帰とも捉えられる映画のワンシーンのようです。

 

本展はEdo Oliverにとって初個展となります。
Edo Oliverが生み出す、性と身体の概念が交錯する世界をぜひこの機会にご高覧下さい。

 

We are pleased to announce the solo exhibition of multidisciplinary artist Edo Oliver, “Dys・Morphia”, from January 27 (Thu) to February 13 (Sun), 2022.

 

Edo Oliver is a multidisciplinary artist working in photography, textiles, and performance art.

 

Born in Mexico and raised in Canada, Edo Oliver spent their childhood in Mexico absorbing make-up and fashion from films from around the world, and has a keen interest in culture, sexuality, and many other things with a sensitive and poetic sensibility.

 

Since the mid-2010s, they has been living in Japan, working as a creative director for fashion and advertising, and has also started their personal activities as a photographer and performance artist / drag queen “Andromeda”.

 

In this exhibition, “Dys・Morphia,” they will present new photographic works.
The beauty peeking out from the darkness like the inside of a cave, and the danger of the incomplete contours living together, are like a scene from a movie, which can be seen as a return to the origin of Edo Oliver’s expressive activities.

 

This will be Edo Oliver’s first solo exhibition.

We hope you will take this opportunity to see the world that Edo Oliver creates, where the concepts of sex and the body intersect.

    Edo Oliver（エド・オリバー）
    写真、テキスタイル、パフォーマンス・アートを中心に多岐に渡って活動を行なっているマルチ・アーティスト。
    身体、接触、愛、孤独など様々なテーマを扱い、静かな人間性と自分自身を理解しようとする孤立した内省の瞬間を核としている。クリエイティブスタジオREINGのクリエイティブディレクターを務め、アンドロメダという名のドラァグクイーン、雑誌IWAKANの創立者の1人で編集者としても活動を行なっている。

    Edo Oliver is a multidisciplinary artist focused on photography, textile manipulation and performance art. Their work covers various topics such as bodies, contact, love and loneliness, but at its core they focuses around a quiet humanity and moments of isolated introspection in a search to understand themselves. Edo Oliver also works as a creative director for Creative Studio REING, a drag performer by the name of Andromeda and is one of the founders and editors of IWAKAN magazine.

    Dys【ディス】：奇形、醜い
    Morphia【モルフィア】： 形状

    私の肌が
    輪郭からあふれ出たとき
    新たな境界線を
    自ら導き出すことは可能だろうか

    私に重力を与えてくれる このカラダの境目が
    肉体とともに 溶けていったら
    私は大きくも 小さくも在る

    フォルムから解き放たれた
    このカタチ この性
    溶けて無となった私ははじけて全てとなる
    分散し 拡張する 流動的な

    私は空気

    Dys・Morphia

    Dys: misshapen or ugly
    Morphia: form

    If the lines of my skin overflow past their borders
    Can they image new peripheries of their own?

    If the contours that give my body gravity
    Also melt away the fibers of my flesh
    Then I am more as I become less.

    This shape, this sex, it remains uncommitted to form.
    I dissolve into nothing, explode into everything.
    Fragmented, expansive, amorphous.

    I am air.
