「two, yet not two」

2026年9月17日(木) – 9月27日(日)の期間、内山耀一朗による個展「two, yet not two」を開催いたします。

内山耀一朗は東京を拠点に活動しているアーティスト、グラフィックデザイナーです。

人がものを見るとき、その見え方や解釈、感じ方は、対象を取り巻く環境や状況、見る人の経験や記憶などの「文脈」によって変化します。

内山は、そうした知覚と文脈の関係に着目し、文脈を操作することで見え方を変化させる表現を、自身の出版レーベルである ninifuni において探求しています。

「pieces of paper, shapes, and colors」は、こうした関心を起点に、2022年から取り組んでいるシリーズです。このシリーズでは、形や色の組み合わせによって生じる見え方の変化を、本という形式を通じて探ってきました。

本展「two, yet not two」では、この「pieces of paper, shapes, and colors」シリーズを、本として制作する以前に構想していたモビールやオブジェへと展開します。

高さ約2メートルの大型作品は、身体的なスケールをもつ自立したオブジェとして空間に立ち上がり、モビール作品は、空気の動きや光、見る位置、時間の経過によって異なる表情を見せます。

これまで ninifuni において本を通じて行ってきた実践を、異なるスケールや素材、構造をもつ作品へと展開し、新たな視点から捉え直すことを試みます。

本展は内山にとって初個展となります。

We are pleased to announce “two, yet not two”, an exhibition by Yoichiro Uchiyama from Thursday September 17 – Sunday September 27, 2026.

When people look at something, how they see it, interpret it, and feel about it changes depending on the “context”—such as the environment and situation surrounding the object, as well as the viewer’s experiences and memories.

Uchiyama focuses on this relationship between perception and context, and through her publishing label, ninifuni, she explores forms of expression that alter how things are perceived by manipulating context.

“pieces of paper, shapes, and colors” is a series he has been working on since 2022, inspired by this interest. In this series, he has explored the changes in perception arising from combinations of shapes and colors through the medium of the book.

In this exhibition, “two, yet not two,” he expands the “pieces of paper, shapes, and colors” series into mobiles and objects—forms he had conceived even before creating them as books.

The large-scale works, approximately 2 meters tall, stand in the space as freestanding objects on a physical scale, while the mobile works reveal different expressions depending on the movement of air, light, the viewer’s position, and the passage of time.

I aim to expand the practices I have pursued through books at ninifuni into works of different scales, materials, and structures, and to reexamine them from a new perspective.

This exhibition marks Uchiyama’s first solo exhibition.
